Jack Ryan

Lieutenant Commander Ryan is a 1999 graduate of the United States Naval Academy and an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Officer in the United States Navy. His various operational assignments include a division officer tour on USS PATRIOT (MCM­7); EOD platoon officer assignments with EOD Mobile Unite THREE; EOD/ATFP officer on Carrier Strike Group TWO; Operations Officer of EOD Mobile Unite TWELVE; and Executive Officer of Mobile Diving and Salvage Unite ONE. LCDR Ryan is currently serving as a Junior Permanent Military Professor in the English Department at the United States Naval Academy. LCDR Ryan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in English from the U.S. Naval Academy, a Master of Arts degree in English from the Catholic University of America, and a Master of Arts in Health and Wellness Coaching from the Maryland University of Integrative Health. His personal decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), and various campaign and unit awards. He is married with three sons and lives in the Annapolis area where he enjoys participating in a variety of outdoor activities, works on various holistic veteran­care initiatives, and participates in the local community.
